FAQ

Counselling Options

  • 1-1 counselling session with a client for 50-minutes.

  • Walk and talk counselling, also known as outdoor counselling or ecotherapy, is a form of counselling where sessions take place outdoors, typically while walking.

Birkenhead - Bush walk through Birkenhead Memorial Park

Milford - Short walk to Lake Pupuke to sit by or walk near the Lake. Or a longer walk to Milford Beach.

The natural surroundings can provide a calming atmosphere, reduce stress, and encourage openness in clients. Walking side by side with a counsellor often feels less formal and more relaxed than sitting face-to-face in an office, which can help clients feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings.

  • One on one session from your home computer or phone. We can connect via Zoom, Teams or video call.

  • Ecotherapy, or nature therapy, offers several benefits for mental and emotional well-being. It can reduce stress levels, improve mood, enhance creativity, and promote overall mental health by reconnecting individuals with the natural world. Spending time in nature has been shown to lower cortisol levels, boost serotonin production, and provide a sense of calm and relaxation, making ecotherapy an effective complement to traditional therapy for many people.

  • Register your interest for future counselling groups.

Connect with nature, yourself and community.

Next group available is start in March.

Group sessions foster a sense of community.

  • 🌿 Counselling Support for Parents – Walk & Talk Sessions 🌿

As a parent, accessing mental health support can be challenging, especially when childcare is a barrier. I offer walk-and-talk eco-therapy sessions designed to support parents by removing this obstacle.

If you're experiencing anxiety, depression (including postpartum), or a range of other mental health challenges, you don’t have to navigate this alone. Our sessions are designed to allow you to bring your baby or young child in a pram or front pack while we walk outside together. This approach provides the therapeutic benefits of nature while offering the flexibility to care for your child and support your mental health needs.

  • I am a provider with Aoake te Rā, and can access funding for 6 counselling sessions.
